The Department of Mechanical Engineering in collaboration with EPR Labs, chennai, conducted the inaugural function of three months course in Robotics and Automation on 18.09.2019. Mr.R.Purushothaman , Chief Executive Officer, EPR Labs, was the resource person and delivered the inaugural address.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering inaugurated the Internship/project kick-off event for the Preethi/Philips Kitchen Appliances Company Limited on 16.09.2019.Sixty Five students from third and final year mechanical Engineering are undergoing this internship program in Preethi Kitchen Appliances Company Limitied. Mr.Murugan, Deputy Manager of the company came and initiated this Industry-Institute interaction Internship event.

The department of Mechanical Engineering in association with ICT academy has conducted five days workshop on ” 3D Modelling with Fusion 360″ from 09.09.2019 to 14.09.2019. Mr.A.M.Mohamed Shereef Deputy Manager-Design, ICT academy was the Chief Guest and delivered the inaugural address.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering organized “SAIMECH 2K19 INDIA DESIGN CONTEST titled MAVIS called Mechanical Engineers Active Vision in Integrating Society” on 23.08.2019 along with Association of Mechanical Engineers. Mr.M.V.Ravinder, Associate Vice President, OCF Engineering, IP Rings Ltd., was the Chief-Guest and delivered the inaugural address. Many Technical and Non technical events are to be conducted such as Mechathon, CAD Modeling, Technical Quiz, Business Plan, Short Film etc. Live workshops on 3D printing, automotive vehicles and many other events were conducted. More than 300 students from various Engineering colleges from Tamilnadu and other states participated. Free tree saplings were distributed to all participants. Prizes worth Rs.1,00,000 along with certificates, shields and gift vouchers were distributed to the winners.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering organised a meet on 01.08.2019 in which our old Alumni Mr.Kavin Chandrasekaran, Research Scientist, R&D, Autonomous Driving Department, Vehicle Dynamics and Safety Branch,BMW Group,Munich, Germany has addressed the mechanical engineering students and shared his association with the college and in particular with the Department and motivated the students for higher studies and carrier.

“The Department of Mechanical Engineering – SAEINDIA Collegiate Club organises Lecture meeting on 13.08.2019. Mr.C.Suppuraj, General Manager, product Development, Chassis India, Ford India Limited, Chennai was the chief Guest and delivered the lecture on “Terrain Management System”.

Workshop on “Overview of HVAC & R Industry” – 26.07.2019

The Department of Mechanical Engineering in association with Indian Society for Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning for Engineers (ISHRAE) conducted three days workshop on “Overview of HVAC & R Industry” from 26.07.2019 . Mr.S.Vijayabaskaran, President , Chennai Chapter, ISHRAE inaugurated the workshop and delivered a lecture.

Global Warming

The Department of Mechanical Engineering organised an awareness program on Global Warming on 24.07.2019 in Government Higher Secondary School, Somangalam, in association with Indian Society for Heating, Refrigerating and AirConditioning Engineers (ISHRAE). The school students were told about global warming and the importance of its prevention. Trees were planned.
