The Department of Mechanical Engineering has conducted six days Faculty Development Training Programme (FDTP) on “Working Culture for Professionals” from 11.11.2019 to 16.11.2019. The inaugural function was on 11.11.2019. Mr.N.Lakshmi Narasimhan, General Manage-HR, Brakes India Pvt Ltd., was the chief guest. The resource persons who made their contributions were Mr.K.Babu, Consultant, SSL and implementation ,Mr.S.A.Vijayakumar, Former Director, Tamilnadu Motor Vehicles,Ms.Shruti Dinesh, Director HR., V2 Machines Pvt Ltd., Mr.M.V..Ravinder, Associate Vice-President, OCF Engineering, IP Rings Ltd., and Senior Professors from Mechanical Engineering Department. Around 30 faculties from various affiliated Engineering Colleges and Universities participated and benefited,

The Department of Mechanical Engineering organised an awareness program on Global Warming on 24.07.2019 in Government Higher Secondary School, Somangalam, in association with Indian Society for Heating, Refrigerating and AirConditioning Engineers (ISHRAE). The school students were told about global warming and the importance of its prevention. Trees were planned.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering in association with Indian Society for Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning for Engineers (ISHRAE) conducted three days workshop on “Overview of HVAC & R Industry” from 26.07.2019 . Mr.S.Vijayabaskaran, President , Chennai Chapter, ISHRAE inaugurated the workshop and delivered a lecture.

Association of Mechanical Engineering of Mechanical Department organised the event ” Internship Fest 2019″ on 09.10.2019 in which around 140 students of the Department were offered with internship offers from top core industries. More than 30 industries participated in this mega event. GP.Capt. R.Vijayakumar, VSM (Retd), Executive Director, Madras Management Association, Chennai, was the Chief Guest and delivered the special address.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering is presented with a Renault Duster car and a standalone gear box by Renault Nissan Automotive India Private Limited (RNAIPL). This is to help the research activities undertaken by the students.

Dr.Satish Pandurangan, Professor, Department of Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Salalah College of Technology, Salalah, Dhofar, Sultanate of Oman was the Chief Guest and delivered the Lecture “Applications of Composite Materials”.
